How do you bring quality to a glass splashback installation?
At Mrs Splashback, quality solutions are at the forefront of the premium quality service that we deliver. As one example of quality, when we apply a finish such as silicone, we don’t just choose a clear silicone. We’ll colour match the silicone to the surrounds of the glass application to optimise the look.

Why do you use 6 mm toughened glass in kitchens, when 4 mm glass would be cheaper?
At Mrs Splashback, quality, integrity and customer centric service is at the heart of everything we do. Not only would 4 mm glass splashbacks in a kitchen fall short of Australian Standards, it simply isn’t durable enough for such an active home space. We don’t cut corners. It is a safer and more durable solution to use 6 mm toughened safety glass in your kitchen.
-
Is your glass imported or locally made?
We’re glad you asked. All our glass is locally sourced, in Australia. Sourcing locally means we know the solution we’re putting in your home or business complies with Australian Standards.
-
What glass do you use? How thick is it?
The glass we use always complies with, or exceeds Australian Standards. Depending on the application, glass widths vary from 4 mm to 12 mm. In most applications, toughened safety glass is a regulatory requirement. Contact us on 1800 300 263, we can help.

What is the difference between Clear Glass and Low Iron / starfire glass?
Clear glass, or normal glass as you might know it, has a green tinge due to the natural occurring iron content. Green tinges work fabulously with dark or red colours.
Low iron glass / Starfire glass has reduced iron minimising the natural green tinge of clear glass. Starfire glass is better suited to more closely reflecting the colour you want your glass splashback to reflect.
-
What glass splashback colours can I choose from?
You can choose from as many colours as you can possibly imagine. We can match any colour, you just need to make the decision about which colour. A friendly visit to your local paint store, and consideration of the Dulux colour range, is a great start. Throw us a colour challenge. We’ll match it!
-
Is the glass toughened or tempered?
Yes. In the majority of applications, the glass we use is toughened glass in accordance with Australian Standards. We will never cut corners but will do what is safe, and looks good. At Mrs Splashback we like to make sure that an entire kitchen and bathroom is finished with toughened safety glass. Toughened glass should be used anywhere there is a risk. Behind a cook top and in the bathroom, toughened glass is necessary. Even for glass used purely for aesthetics, we recommend toughened glass. Simply put it is safer, stronger and less likely to break.
-
How much stronger is toughened glass?
Toughened glass is up to five times as strong as normal glass. That means it needs to be hit much harder to break. And then, if it does break, it crumbles into lots of small pieces – it doesn’t shatter into sharp shards like normal glass does. For this reason, you can imagine why toughened glass is an Australian requirement in bathrooms, kitchens and many other glass applications.

What is the difference between a Frameless and a semi Frameless shower screen?
Glad you asked. A frameless shower screen has no frame, minimal fixtures and hardware. It requires special attention and expertise in installation. A Mrs Splashback semi frameless shower screen has a tastefully minimalistic slim line frame, and is complemented by a wide choice of hardware. The main differences between frameless and semi frameless is in the dimensions / specifications. A frameless shower screen is 8mm or 10mm versus 6 mm for a semi frameless shower screen. A frameless shower screen can be up to 2.3 metres in height. A semi frameless has a 2 metre maximum height.
-
Does your glass comply with the Australian standards?
Yes. Our glass complies with AS1288.
-
What is a custom job when it comes to glass splashbacks, mirrors or frameless showers?
A custom job may require unique sized panels of glass tailored specifically to your building designs. It means that the glass will fit the intended space, properly. Did you know that not all straight walls are actually straight? If your walls are out 5 mm we can customise by cutting the glass on a slight angle to accommodate the run out. It means your shower screen and its surrounds will look straight. You’ll get a finish that will fit properly. Sourcing glass locally from Australia means that we have the flexibility to customise a solution to suit your space, while meeting Australian Standards.

What is the benefit of a glass splashback over tiles?
We love that you’ve asked this question. It is a common one. There are many benefits over tiles and other applications. Where to start? No grout means easier cleaning. No grout means less likelihood of attracting and trapping dirt and mould. No grout grooves means smooth, polished finishes. Covering a large surface area with a glass splashback, means it is less labour intensive than spacing, gluing, installing, grouting and cleaning off tiles. Your glass splashback will look as good in 10 years as it did the day it was installed and finished. Tiles won’t. And overall, a glass splashback is a more contemporary, clean line, quality finish.
-
When is the best time to get an installer out to do a check measure?

Can you still install a Splashback if there are holes is the plaster from removing old tiles?
